Naam ki Mahima
Swami Satyanandji Maharaj gave all seekers a very simple, natural, and practical path to understand the glory of Ram Naam and practice its remembrance. This path given by Swamiji shows us the right direction in life. Ram Naam is not merely a means of repeating a sacred word; it is a simple way to purify the mind, attain inner peace, and establish a connection with the Divine.
We should not merely read or listen to Swamiji Maharaj’s priceless teachings. We should embrace them in our lives with faith, trust, devotion, and complete surrender. When a seeker regularly remembers Ram Naam and makes it the support of his or her life, gradually the seeker’s thoughts, feelings, and actions begin to be influenced by the Divine Name.
उत्तम नाम अनाम का, राम नाम सुखकार। जिसे सिमर बहु जन तरे, भव सागर से पार।। १।।
The foundation of our spiritual relationship in Satsang is Shri Ram Naam. Through the giving and sharing of this auspicious and divine Mahamantra, we come closer to one another at the level of the soul. This supremely sweet Ram Naam makes our relationships beautiful, loving, and harmonious.
Through the sincere practice of Naam by a devotee of Ram Naam, the Lord is pleased. Ram Naam removes the impurities and burdens of the seeker and gradually reveals itself within the soul through the divine resonance of the immortal Name.
The seeker develops the inner feeling that, just as medicine works within the body, Shri Ram Naam itself is healing the illnesses of the mind—removing worries, restlessness, and mental disturbances. The seed of Ram Naam, the divine wish-fulfilling tree, has already been planted in the soil of the seeker’s heart.
For a devotee filled with faith, Shri Ram Naam is not merely the two syllables of the word “Ram.” Through love, faith, and devotion, the seeker establishes the Divine within the Name, just as people establish their chosen deity within a sacred image.
Whenever a name is given to something, that name helps us recognize and understand it. The depth of Naam Upasana is that the sound of the Divine Name gradually settles within us, and the seeker’s mind itself becomes a temple. The worship of Naam does not require elaborate external materials or rituals.
Amritvani and Shri Bhakti Prakash are profound texts filled with the glory and teachings of Ram Naam. Some important teachings related to the greatness of Ram Naam are as follows:

Ram Naam itself is the true Chintamani. Just as Chintamani is traditionally regarded as a precious jewel capable of fulfilling desires, Ram Naam guides the seeker toward the highest purpose of life—inner peace and realization of the Divine.
Shri Ram Naam is a Mahamantra. Therefore, it should be remembered repeatedly with love, faith, and devotion:
“Ram Ram, Shri Ram.” The Simplicity of Ram Naam Jaap
The practice of Ram Naam Jaap is simple, natural, and accessible to everyone. It does not require a special place, a particular time, or a complicated method. Ram Naam can be remembered while walking, working, performing our daily duties, or going about our ordinary life.
We should not repeat Ram Naam merely as words. It should be practiced with love, faith, and devotion. As the Name is repeatedly spoken through the tongue and lips, gradually it begins to descend into the mind and become part of our inner awareness.
When the practice of Naam becomes continuous, a stage gradually comes when Ram Naam continues within the mind effortlessly, even without deliberate effort. This is known as Ajapa Jaap.
Continuous remembrance of the Name gradually washes away impurities, worries, and disturbances of the mind and makes the mind increasingly pure, peaceful, and still.
The Central Message of Shri Ramsharnam
Make Ram Naam your support, remember it with love, and keep Ram in your awareness while performing every activity of life.
Through regular Naam Jaap, regardless of how external circumstances may be, the seeker’s mind gradually becomes peaceful, pure, and surrendered to the Divine from within.
Ultimately, the mind that continuously remembers the Name begins to become established in Ram-consciousness. The distinction between the one who chants the Name and the one who remembers the Name gradually becomes less important, as the seeker becomes absorbed in the divine awareness of Ram.
Swami Satyanandji Maharaj explained that Ram Himself is present within His Divine Name.
